Szepit Waterfall on the Hylaty stream

Szepit is the highest and most impressive waterfall in the Bieszczady Mountains. According to the information board on site, it reaches about 8 m in height. It is not a single tall step, but several cascades formed by uplifted sandstones and shales.

Location and surroundings

Located on the Hylaty stream in Zatwarnica (Lutowiska municipality). In 1998 it was declared an inanimate natural monument. Originally the waterfall was about 30 m lower - its shift was the result of shale extraction from the stream in the 1960s.
