Mierzeja Sarbska Nature Reserve

A landscape reserve established in 1976, with an area of 546.95 ha, located on the sandbar separating Lake Sarbsko from the Baltic Sea, on the border of the Słowińskie and Kaszubskie Coastlands.

Location and surroundings

The reserve extends across the municipalities of Choczewo, Łeba and Wicko. The nearest towns are Łeba and Osetnik.

Natural value

It encompasses shifting parabolic dunes reaching up to about 24 m above sea level, crowberry pine forests, birch woods and wetlands, as well as plant communities unique on the Polish coast found in deflation hollows. About 340 species of vascular plants have been recorded here, including protected species (among others royal fern, bog violet and sundews).
