The Błędów Desert is Poland's largest area of aeolian sands with inland dunes, known as the "Polish Sahara", covering about 32-33 km² and located on the border of the Silesian and Lesser Poland Voivodeships. The Biała Przemsza River flows through the area along its valley.
It stretches from Błędów (Dąbrowa Górnicza) in the west to the municipality of Klucze in the east. The main viewpoints are Czubatka in Klucze and the Dąbrówka hill near Chechło, as well as the Róża Wiatrów (Wind Rose) platform (built in 2018).
The desert is of anthropogenic origin - it was formed as a result of medieval exploitation of silver and lead ores in the Olkusz region (deforestation and drainage). It is protected as the "Błędów Desert" Natura 2000 area (since 2008), where the object of protection are inland dunes with sandy grasslands. Renaturisation works were carried out (including the Life+ programme completed in 2014).
