Valley of the Dinosaurs at the Silesian Zoological Garden

The rocky Valley of the Dinosaurs was created in 1975 within the Silesian Zoological Garden in Chorzów (Silesian Park) and was at that time the only exhibition of its kind in Poland. The dinosaur models were reconstructed on the basis of skeletons discovered by Polish palaeontologists (the expeditions of Prof. Zofia Kielan-Jaworowska in the Gobi Desert between 1963 and 1971).

The exhibition

  • 16 dinosaur models, including Gallimimus, Tarbosaurus, Nemegtosaurus, Protoceratops, Prenocephale, Saichania and Saurolophus
  • figures blended into the natural rock formations of the valley
  • a glass footbridge about 90 m long spanning the valley (opened in recent years)
