Wołosate (parking), Bieszczadzki Park Narodowy, gmina Lutowiska, woj. podkarpackie
Tarnica (1,346 m above sea level) is the highest peak of the Polish Bieszczady Mountains. The shortest and easiest trail to the summit starts in Wołosate and is marked in blue. The route is about 4.4 km long, and the ascent takes roughly 2 hours 10 minutes, with an elevation gain of around 618 m.
The trail begins in Wołosate, a small village in the valley where there is a car park. The route first leads across gentle meadows and pastures, then enters the forest. All trails meet just below the summit at a pass at an altitude of about 1,275 m, from where the yellow trail leads to the very top.
The summit offers sweeping panoramas of the Bieszczady mountain meadows (połoniny). Tarnica can also be reached via trails from Ustrzyki Górne (red) and from the Muczne side through Bukowe Berdo.
The blue trail from Wołosate is considered the easiest way to the highest peak of the Bieszczady, accessible to most hikers.
The trail is available year-round; in winter conditions it requires experience.
Wołosate can be reached by car (paid car park); minibuses also operate in season.
