Perć Akademików to Babia Góra

Perć Akademików is a yellow-marked trail in the Babia Góra massif in the Żywiec Beskids. It leads from the Rescuers' Turn (Skręt Ratowników) on the Górny Płaj path near the Markowe Szczawiny hut to the summit of Babia Góra – Diablak (1,725 m above sea level). Despite its short length, it is one of the most interesting and challenging trails in the Polish Beskids.

Location and surroundings

The trail lies on the border of the provinces, in the Babia Góra massif protected by the Babia Góra National Park. Diablak is the highest peak of the massif.

What to see

The most difficult section is an approximately 8-metre vertical wall called the Black Beak (Czarny Dziób), which is climbed with the aid of a chain and six metal steps. The trail was marked out in 1925.

Who is it for

A one-way trail (ascent only), intended for hikers resistant to exposure. Closed in winter.
