The New Zoo in Poznań was opened on 16 September 1974, on the centenary of the founding of the Old Zoo. Both gardens form an integral whole of the Zoological Garden in Poznań, a member of EAZA.
The New Zoo covers an area of about 120.68 hectares on hilly forest terrain, on Krańcowa Street.
The collection includes numerous endangered species; it is particularly rich in birds of prey and owls. Its attractions include an elephant house (2008), a Nocturnal Animals Pavilion (the first in Poland, 1995) and a bear sanctuary.
