Seal Sanctuary of the UG Marine Station in Hel

A seal sanctuary run by the Professor Krzysztof Skóra Marine Station of the Institute of Oceanography of the University of Gdańsk in Hel, in existence since 1999. It is located almost at the end of the peninsula, between the naval and fishing ports. The facility is of a research, breeding and rehabilitation nature, and its goal is the restoration and protection of the grey seal colony in the southern Baltic.

Attractions

The seals can be observed from the edge of the pools and from an underwater viewing hall. A major attraction are the feeding shows and demonstrations of the seals' skills.

Visiting hours are sometimes changed (e.g. due to pool modernisation) - it is worth confirming on the sanctuary's website. Regular ticket approx. PLN 20, reduced approx. PLN 15.
