A wooden Orthodox church in Komańcza, rebuilt after a fire, located on the Wooden Architecture Route of the Podkarpackie Voivodeship.

Location and surroundings

Komańcza lies in the Komańcza commune, in the Sanok county, in the Western Bieszczady Mountains.

History

The original church was built in the first years of the 19th century on the site of an earlier building that had burned down; it had an iconostasis dating from around 1835. In 2006 the church burned down, and by 2010 it was rebuilt together with most of its furnishings (including the iconostasis). The gate-belfry survived the fire.
