Wooden Orthodox churches at the open-air museum in Sanok

The Museum of Folk Architecture in Sanok is the oldest and largest open-air museum in Poland, presenting more than 180 objects of wooden architecture over about 38 hectares. Its collection includes relocated and reconstructed wooden Greek Catholic churches.

Location and surroundings

The open-air museum is located in Sanok, in the Podkarpackie Voivodeship, in sectors including the Boyko, Lemko and Dolinianie sectors.

History

Among the museum's sacred buildings are three Greek Catholic churches relocated from the villages of Rosolin, Grąziowa and Ropki, alongside a Roman Catholic church from Bączal Dolny. The Church of the Ascension of the Lord in Ulucz (a field branch of the Museum) belongs to the group of the oldest preserved examples of wooden church architecture in Poland.
