A wooden molenna (Old Believers' place of worship) dedicated to the Dormition of the Most Holy Mary in Wojnowo in Masuria - a rare monument of sacred architecture connected with Old Believer Orthodoxy in this area.
Wojnowo lies in the Ruciane-Nida commune, by Lake Duś. The Old Believers founded several villages in Masuria (including Ukta, Kadzidłowo, Wojnowo) in 1830-1832, fleeing persecution in Russia after the reforms of Patriarch Nikon.
The molenna in Wojnowo was built in 1923-1927. It is distinguished by a characteristic large onion dome towering over the surroundings. A female Old Believer monastery operated by the church.
The wooden form of the molenna with an onion dome; its distinctiveness lies in the fact that the building does not resemble traditional Orthodox churches.
