Post-Cistercian monastery and palace complex in Rudy

A former Cistercian abbey with the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, one of the more important sacred monuments of Upper Silesia.

Location and surroundings

Located in Rudy near Racibórz, amid a historic landscape park covering about 95 ha.

History

The Cistercians came to Rudy in the 13th century. During the Baroque period, wings of a palace residence were added to the monastery complex, and in the 19th century an English-style garden was laid out.
