The oldest Benedictine abbey in Poland, picturesquely situated on a limestone hill above the Vistula River.

History

The Benedictine monastery in Tyniec was founded in the 11th century. For centuries it was an important religious and cultural centre; after its dissolution in the 19th century, the Benedictines returned here in the 20th century.
