Bernardine Monastery in Alwernia

A Bernardine monastery complex founded in 1616 by Krzysztof Koryciński, who modelled it on the sanctuary of La Verna in Tuscany (hence the name Alwernia). The Baroque church of the Stigmata of St. Francis was erected between 1630 and 1676.

The miraculous image of Ecce Homo

The image of the Suffering Lord Jesus "Ecce Homo" was given to the monastery in 1686. On 15 September 2024, Archbishop Marek Jędraszewski established the church as the Archdiocesan Sanctuary of the Suffering Lord Jesus Ecce Homo.
