Norbertine Convent in Imbramowice

One of the oldest women's convents in Poland, founded around 1226 by Bishop Iwo Odrowąż and confirmed by a bull of Pope Gregory IX in 1229. After the fire of 1710, an impressive Baroque complex was erected to a design by Kacper Bażanka.

Sanctuary and art

This is one of only two active Norbertine convents in Poland (alongside Salwator in Kraków). In 2003 Bishop Kazimierz Ryczan established the church as a regional Sanctuary of the Passion of the Lord. Its interior holds, among other works, an image of the suffering Christ and a work by Jan Brueghel the Elder.
