Former Cistercian Abbey in Pelplin

The Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption of the BVM is part of a former Cistercian abbey - the second largest brick church in Poland (after St. Mary's Basilica in Gdańsk). The Cistercians were brought to Pelplin in 1274 by Duke Mściwoj II.

The complex and the Gutenberg Bible

The complex includes medieval (13th-15th century) post-Cistercian buildings: the basilica, the monastery, farm buildings, a mill and a granary. The Diocesan Museum holds the only copy of the Gutenberg Bible in Poland.
