A minor basilica with the sanctuary of Our Lady Queen of Love and Peace, Lady of Kuyavia. The object of devotion is a Gothic figure of the Mother of God with the Child, brought to Markowice in 1630. The masonry basilica was erected in 1710 through the efforts of the Carmelites.
The first custodians were the Carmelites (from 1642); after the suppression in 1825 the church fell into decline, and in 1921 care was taken over by the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate (until 2013). On 27 June 1965 Cardinal Wyszyński crowned the figure. In 2015 the church was raised to the rank of minor basilica; it is now cared for by priests of the Archdiocese of Gniezno.
The sanctuary is open year-round.
