Former Cistercian nuns' monastery in Pełczyce

A Cistercian nuns' monastery situated on a hill above Lake Panieńskie, founded in March 1290 by the Brandenburg margrave Albrecht III; the first Cistercian nuns appeared in 1282 (the convent arrived from Szczecin). At the beginning of the 16th century the monastery's estates comprised around 10 villages, 8 lakes and 5 mills.

What remains

The monastery was most likely dissolved in 1539 by Margrave John of Küstrin after the introduction of the Reformation. The western wing of the monastery survives to this day; the site lies on the Cistercian Trail.
