The oldest Marian sanctuary in Poland, whose origins are linked to an apparition of the Virgin Mary to a shepherd in 1079 in the Górka Grove. The miraculous image of Our Lady of Górka is venerated here.
Between 1638 and 1841 the sanctuary was run by the Bernardines (the monastery was closed as a result of the Prussian dissolution). Since 1923 it has been cared for by the Missionaries of the Holy Family (MSF), who run a seminary here. The image was crowned by Cardinal Wyszyński on 6 June 1965.
The sanctuary is open year-round.
