Sanctuary of St. Anthony in Ratowo

A former Bernardine monastery complex with the Sanctuary of St. Anthony of Padua. Ratowo has been a centre of the cult of St. Anthony at least since the 15th century. Around 1680, Tomasz Narzymski erected a wooden church and brought in the Bernardines (their ceremonial introduction took place in 1686).

The church and monastery

After the fire of 1690, a masonry complex was erected: the church between 1735 and 1749, the monastery between 1752 and 1761; consecrated in 1761 by the Bishop of Płock, Antoni Dembowski. Today a Retreat and Formation House operates here.
