The church stands on St. Mary's Square, at the corner of the Main Market Square in Kraków, in the heart of the Old Town inscribed on the UNESCO List. It is one of the most recognisable symbols of the city.
This Gothic parish church was built at the turn of the 13th and 14th centuries, and in the following centuries, on the site of an earlier temple. The taller of the two towers (the bugle-call tower) serves as the city tower, from which the St. Mary's bugle call is played every hour.
The most precious work is the Gothic high altar carved by Veit Stoss at the end of the 15th century, opened daily. The interior also preserves stained glass, polychromes and rich decoration. The bugle-call tower offers a view of the Main Market Square.

Open year-round; basilica visiting hours: Mon-Sat 11.30-18.00, Sun and holidays 14.00-18.00. Bugle-call tower: Tue-Sat 10.00-17.30, Sun 13.00-17.30.
