Archcathedral of Christ the King in Katowice

Location and surroundings

The cathedral is located in the centre of Katowice, on Plebiscytowa Street. It is the largest cathedral in Poland.

History

The church was built between 1927 and 1955 in a Classicist style, to a design by Zygmunt Gawlik and Franciszek Mączyński. The consecration took place on 30 October 1955. It is entered in the register of monuments.

The monumental structure with its dome, the cathedral interior and the décor, which is an example of 20th-century sacral architecture.
