History

The first navigational light in Kołobrzeg was recorded as early as 1666. Subsequent lighthouses were built in 1899 (a stone tower) and 1909. The previous lighthouse was destroyed by German sappers in 1945, and a new one, set on the fortress foundations, was completed that same year. In 1979-1981 a thorough renovation was carried out, during which, among other things, the stairs were replaced with metal ones.
