Gąski Lighthouse

A tall, slender lighthouse in the village of Gąski. The tower is 49.8 m high, with the light at about 51.1 m above sea level. The lighthouse stands roughly halfway between the lighthouses in Kołobrzeg (about 22 km to the west) and Darłowo (about 40 km to the east).

Gąski, Mielno commune; a quiet seaside holiday resort.

History

Built between 1876 and 1878. On an octagonal base (about 11.3 m in diameter) rises a cylindrical tower with walls about 3.3 m thick. Originally equipped with an oil-fuelled Fresnel apparatus; electrified by 1927, it was recommissioned in 1948 after the Second World War.

What to see

A viewing terrace and an informational exhibition on the history of the lighthouse; there are dining and souvenir facilities at the site.
