Stilo Lighthouse

One of only two fully metal lighthouses in Poland, with a distinctive three-colour paint scheme (from the top: red, white, black). The tower is 33.4 m high, with the light at about 75 m above sea level. The sixteen-sided tower is built of iron plates joined with bolts and sealed with lead.

Osetnik (formerly Stilo), Choczewo commune, amid coastal forests, far from larger settlements.

History

Built between 1904 and 1906 to a design by architect Walter Korte, by the Gdańsk firm Nordische Elektrizitäts und Stahlwerke AG. Originally equipped with an arc lamp (110 V DC), it was modernised in 1926 (2000 W bulb), in 1975 (halogen system) and in 2019 (LED).
