Krynica Morska Lighthouse

A lighthouse on the Vistula Spit, the easternmost Polish lighthouse (the neighbouring one, on the Russian side, is in Baltiysk). The tower is about 26.5 m high.

Location and surroundings

Krynica Morska, on the forested Vistula Spit, between the Vistula Lagoon and the Gdańsk Bay.

History

The first lighthouse was built by the Prussian maritime administration - the light shone for the first time on 1 May 1895 (a brick tower about 19 m high). It was destroyed on 3 May 1945 by the Germans. After several years of provisional lighting, a new lighthouse was built to a design by Prof. Stanisław Puzyna of the Gdańsk University of Technology, commissioned on 25 August 1951.
