A historic observation tower serving as a lighthouse, located right next to the Sopot pier. It is 30 metres high and offers a panorama of the Tri-City, the Bay of Gdańsk and the pier.
The structure was built in 1903-1904, originally as the chimney of the boiler house of a balneology facility/health resort. After World War II, the building housed, among other things, a health resort, and from 1956 a rheumatology hospital. In 1975, following the modernisation of the hospital boiler house, the chimney became redundant and was adapted to serve a navigational function.
In February 1999, the range of the light was reduced to 7 nautical miles (approx. 13 km), which means that, according to modern criteria, the structure is no longer formally classified as a fully-fledged maritime lighthouse, although it has retained its name and its function as an observation tower.
Open all year round, with shorter hours in the winter months and extended hours in the summer season (June-September 9:00-21:00). Current hours and prices on the operator's website.
