Stawa Galeriowa

Stawa Galeriowa is the taller of the two towers of the entrance leading line of the port of Świnoujście. It is a slender, white tower set on solid land on the western bank of the Świna, with an external spiral staircase with a railing, a daymark in the shape of an inverted triangle and a lantern surrounded by a gallery (hence the name).

History

A navigation mark was built at this spot in 1877. The current structure was erected in 1980 and rebuilt again in 1998, when it was moved about 10 metres to the south.

Navigational function

Together with Stawa Młyny it forms the entrance leading line of the port of Świnoujście - Stawa Galeriowa serves as the upper (rear) light, at a height of approx. 22.7 m above sea level. Its slender, openwork silhouette distinguishes it from the lights of other breakwaters.
