Museum and Memorial Site in Bełżec

The Museum - Memorial Site in Bełżec was established in 2004 as a branch of the State Museum at Majdanek. It is located on the site of the German Nazi extermination camp that operated in the years 1942-1943.

Location and surroundings

The site is located in the village of Bełżec in the south of the Lublin Voivodeship, near the border with the Subcarpathian Voivodeship, at ul. Ofiar Obozu Zagłady.

History

The camp in Bełżec was the first extermination centre established as part of "Operation Reinhardt". The site is one of the largest cemeteries of World War II.

What to see

A symbolic monument-cemetery covering the area of the mass graves and a historical exhibition presenting the history of the camp and the victims.
