The museum is housed on the grounds of the former Fort VII (Colomb), which during the Second World War became the first German concentration camp on Polish soil. It documents the martyrdom of the people of Greater Poland.
The site is located in Poznań on al. Polska, in the western part of the city, Greater Poland Voivodeship.
Fort VII - Colomb was a 19th-century Prussian fort. In 1939 the Germans set up a camp there in which representatives of the Polish elite and inhabitants of the region were imprisoned and murdered. Since 1 January 2025, Fort VII has been part of the Martyrdom Museum in Żabikowo.
