Radegast Station - Branch of the Museum of Independence Traditions in Łódź

Radegast Station is a place of remembrance forming part of the Litzmannstadt Ghetto Extermination Monument, established in 2004. It houses a branch of the Museum of Independence Traditions in Łódź.

Location and surroundings

The site is located in Łódź on al. Pamięci Ofiar Litzmannstadt Getto, on the grounds of the former Radegast railway station.

History

From January 1942 the station became the place from which the Jewish population was deported from the Litzmannstadt Ghetto to the extermination camps in Kulmhof (Chełmno nad Nerem) and Auschwitz-Birkenau. It is estimated that around 145,000 people passed through the station.

What to see

The Tunnel of the Deportees with transport lists, a 1:400 scale model of the ghetto, the Column of Remembrance and exhibits related to the deportations.
