Radogoszcz Martyrdom Branch - Museum of Independence Traditions in Łódź

The Radogoszcz Martyrdom Branch is a place of remembrance dedicated to the victims of the German occupation of Łódź - the largest museum in Łódź devoted to the subject of the Second World War.

Location and surroundings

The site is located in Łódź at 147 Zgierska Street, in the former factory building of Samuel Abbe.

History

Between 1939 and 1945 the building served first as a transit camp and later as a prison for the inhabitants of the Warthegau. On the night of 17 to 18 January 1945, just before the arrival of the Red Army, the Germans liquidated the facility, murdering almost all imprisoned men - more than 1,000 people perished.

Exhibitions including "Radogoszcz 1939-1945" as well as a display devoted to Łódź during the years of war and occupation.
