Ulma Family Museum of Poles Saving Jews in Markowa

The museum in Markowa is the first museum institution in Poland entirely dedicated to the subject of rescuing the Jewish population in occupied Polish lands during the Holocaust. It was opened on 17 March 2016.

Location and surroundings

The museum is located in the village of Markowa near Łańcut, in the Subcarpathian Voivodeship.

History

The museum commemorates Józef and Wiktoria Ulma, residents of Markowa, who during the German occupation hid eight Jews. In March 1944 the Germans murdered the Ulma family together with the Jews they were hiding and their children.

What to see

A multimedia and interactive exhibition with narration in Polish, English and Hebrew, dedicated to the Righteous and to the everyday life of the Ulmas.
