Central Cemetery in Szczecin - war section

The Central Cemetery in Szczecin is the largest cemetery in Poland and one of the largest in Europe. In its central part there is a war section - a place of remembrance for soldiers who fell during the Second World War.

Location and surroundings

The cemetery is located in Szczecin on Ku Słońcu Street, West Pomeranian Voivodeship. The war section is situated in the centre of the necropolis.

History

In the war section a total of 3,379 soldiers rest: 367 Polish (including 203 unknown) and 3,012 Soviet (2,586 unknown). In 1967 the Monument to the Brotherhood of Arms, by the Szczecin sculptor Sławomir Lewiński, was unveiled at the highest point of the section.
