The museum is located in the cellars of the former headquarters of the Gestapo for the Warsaw district, in the building at al. Szucha 25, taken over by the German security police in 1939. Between 1939 and 1945, people were brought here for brutal interrogations combined with torture.
The mausoleum was opened on 18 April 1952 as a museum branch. The original collective cells, corridors and a reconstructed interrogation room have been preserved. A 2008 modernisation added multimedia presentations.
The exhibition is open Wednesday to Sunday 10:00-17:00 (details to be confirmed on the museum's website).
