In a former gravel pit in Mniszek (Dragacz municipality), in the autumn of 1939 the Germans murdered around 10,000 people, including women and children - victims of the Intelligenzaktion, pacification operations, prisoners of war and victims of the so-called T4 operation (including more than 1,000 patients and staff of the psychiatric hospital in Świecie). The crime is commemorated by obelisks and a cross with a grave containing part of the victims' remains.
