The Lućmierz Forest near Zgierz was a site of mass executions carried out by the Germans during the Second World War. Buried here were, among others, the victims of executions in Zgierz and of other crimes committed by the occupier in the Łódź region. The site is commemorated by a cemetery of the victims; in 2017 the funeral ceremonies for the victims of the German executions were held here.
