A Memorial established on the site of the former German Nazi concentration and extermination camp Auschwitz-Birkenau, inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
The museum covers the grounds of two camps in Oświęcim (Auschwitz I) and Brzezinka (Auschwitz II-Birkenau). Entrance and parking at ul. Więźniów Oświęcimia 55.
The camps operated from 1940 to 1945. The State Museum was established in 1947 to commemorate the victims.
Preserved barracks, exhibitions, the gate with the inscription 'Arbeit macht frei', the Birkenau grounds. The detailed scope of the visit should be confirmed on the museum's website.
For all who wish to learn about the history and honour the victims; visits are recommended from the age of 14.
Open all year round except 1 January, Easter Sunday and 25 December. Opening at 7:30; closing time depends on the month.
