European Solidarity Centre

A museum and centre dedicated to the history of the Solidarity movement and the fall of communism in Central and Eastern Europe.

Location and surroundings

The building is located at pl. Solidarności 1 in Gdańsk, next to the historic Gate No. 2 of the former Gdańsk Shipyard and the Monument to the Fallen Shipyard Workers of 1970.

History

The ESC was opened in 2014. It commemorates the events of August 1980 and the birth of the Solidarity trade union.

What to see

The permanent exhibition in seven halls presents the history of Solidarity. The detailed scope of the exhibition should be confirmed on the ESC's website.
