Museum of the Tarnów Region in Tarnów

A cultural institution of the Lesser Poland Voivodeship, founded on 4 June 1927 as the Museum of the City of Tarnów. In 1976 it was renamed the District Museum, and on 23 January 2024 it adopted its current name. The main seat is located in Renaissance tenement houses on the Tarnów Market Square.

Collections

The museum collects paintings, portraits of Polish nobility and notable figures, archival materials, ethnographic collections and fragments of Jan Styka's Transylvanian Panorama. The collection includes, among others, portraits by Élisabeth Vigée-Lebrun and Alexander Roslin. The museum is also known for its valuable Roma collection.
