District Museum in Konin

An institution of the local government of the Greater Poland Voivodeship. Its main seat is located in a Gothic castle in Gosławice, erected between 1418 and 1426 on Lake Gosławskie. The museum documents the history of the Konin region; it holds historical, ethnographic and artistic collections.

Collections

Among the most valuable are the Renaissance painted panels from St James's Church in Rzgów (44 pieces), palaeontological finds (remains of a mammoth, rhinoceros and forest elephant), Judaica and a jewellery collection. On the museum grounds there are an open-air exhibition of mining machinery and an ethnographic open-air museum.
