The museum in Gniezno - the legendary first capital of Poland - provides knowledge about the early Middle Ages in Poland and the history of Gniezno. It is a cultural institution of the local government of the Greater Poland Voivodeship.
The collection comprises around 20,000 archaeological, historical and art artefacts related to the early Middle Ages and the history of Gniezno and the Gniezno region. Its most valuable part are stove tiles from the 15th to the 19th century; the museum holds rich collections of weaponry, wooden products and metal and clay vessels.
