Historical Museum in Sanok

The museum is housed in the Renaissance Royal Castle in Sanok. Founded in 1934, it holds over 20,000 objects of historic and contemporary art. It is one of the most visited museums in the Subcarpathia region.

Collections

The museum holds the world's largest collection of works by Zdzisław Beksiński (about 600 pieces) and one of the finest collections of Carpathian icons in Poland (over 200 icons from the 15th-20th centuries, more than 1,200 objects of Orthodox church art in total). The collection also includes the largest Polish collection of Pokuttya ceramics as well as works by Pankiewicz, Boznańska and Makowski.
