The museum has operated since 1999 as a branch museum working in three historic locations. Since 2002 the main seat has been located in the 18th-century neoclassical Lubomirski Castle, surrounded by a stylish garden.
The museum gathers exhibits related to the history of the region and of Stalowa Wola, a collection of works by Alfons Karpiński and Stefan Norblin, and Art Déco objects. It carries out activities in the fields of regional history, the folk culture of the Lower Nadsanie area and the architecture of modernism.
