Leon Wyczółkowski District Museum in Bydgoszcz

The museum was opened on 5 August 1923 and draws on the traditions of the Historical Society founded in 1880. It holds around 125,000 objects in the departments of archaeology, ethnography, graphic art, history, numismatics, art, the history of technology, and medicine and pharmacy.

Collections

Its patron is the painter Leon Wyczółkowski, 691 of whose works are held in the collection. The museum includes the medieval defensive walls of Bydgoszcz, 6,000 gramophone records and coins from the Bydgoszcz mint (1594-1688). In 2023 it received the Gold Medal for Merit to Culture Gloria Artis.
