Museum in Ostróda

The museum is housed in a Teutonic castle built between 1349 and 1370. After its reconstruction (1977-1992), the castle became the seat of cultural institutions - a museum, a library and an art gallery. The museum was established as an independent cultural institution on 20 September 2000.

Collections

The museum gathers materials and documents concerning the region's past in the fields of history, artistic craft, archaeology, numismatics, old and contemporary art and folk culture. The permanent exhibitions include, among others, "From the History of Ostróda and Its Surroundings" and a display devoted to Napoleon's stay in Ostróda in 1807.
