North Mazovian Museum in Łomża

The museum was established in 1946 on the basis of the collections of the ethnographer and researcher of Kurpie culture Adam Chętnik; the first exhibition opened on 14 March 1948. Despite its name, the institution lies administratively in the Podlaskie Voivodeship.

Amber collections

The museum presents Poland's first exhibition devoted to amber (opened in 1950 thanks to Adam Chętnik). The amber department numbers more than 1,000 exhibits and is a unique, largest regional collection in Poland, documenting the history of Polish amber craft.
