The main museum institution of the Suwałki region, documenting the history, archaeology, ethnography and art of the Suwałki area and of Yotvingia. The main seat is located on Kościuszki Street in Suwałki.
The museum gathers archaeological collections concerning the ancient Yotvingians, the ethnography of the Suwałki region, painting and graphic art. A special place is occupied by collections devoted to Alfred Wierusz-Kowalski - an outstanding painter born in Suwałki.
