District Museum in Sieradz

The museum was established in 1937 (its statute was approved on 23 November 1937). The first exhibits came from donations, including those of Kazimierz Walewski of Tubądzin. Since 1947 the museum has been housed in the oldest brick building in Sieradz, erected at the turn of the 16th and 17th centuries.

The museum has permanent exhibitions illustrating the history of Sieradz in the fields of archaeology, history, art history and ethnography. The collections number over 40,000 objects. The museum also runs a branch - the Walewski Museum in Tubądzin (since 1984).
