Museum of Cieszyn Silesia in Cieszyn

One of the oldest public museums in Central Europe and the oldest public museum on Polish lands. Founded in 1802 by Rev. Leopold Jan Szersznik (1747-1814), who made his library and museum collections publicly available. It is housed in the Baroque-Classicist Larisch Palace (1790-1796).

Collections

The museum comprises nine departments: archaeology, ethnography, photography, history, cartography, art, technology, education and a scientific library (over 24,000 volumes and 370 old prints). The permanent exhibitions include, among others, "The Art of the Gothic and Renaissance" and "At the Crossroads of History and Cultures".
